Litigation & Disputes

Reading Litigation and Dispute Services

Reducing the stress of litigation

A famous judge once said that ordinary men have no greater fear than that of litigation. Whilst this statement is overblown, it does illustrate how most people associate litigation with high cost and stress. Whilst the courts can be costly, in this day and age, it is not always necessary to resolve disputes through the courts. In fact, the majority of legal disputes are settled out of the courts.

If the other side proves to be difficult to deal with and the courts become the only way of resolving your dispute, you will be glad to know that we may able to offer our services on a fixed fee or no win no fee basis.

Settling disputes out of court

There are three main ways of settling a dispute out of court:

  • Through your solicitor
  • Through your mediation
  • Through arbitration

Naturally, your solicitor will be your first point of call. Simple disputes, such as ones over debts, can often be settled through your solicitor.

Mediation is procedure through which the parties negotiate a settlement via the aid of a third party (the mediator).

Arbitration is similar to a traditional court as a third party (the arbitrator) is charged with the task of coming to a decision on your case.

Settling your dispute using one of these methods is cheaper, quicker and less stressful for you. Where possible, we will try to exhaust these methods to resolve your dispute, allowing you to move on with your life.
